Surfboard Souls Manly are a family of 5 living on the Northern Beaches who love the ocean and surfing. During the 3rd Covid lockdown in 2021, our eldest daughter Olivia, 13 years old who lives to surf, had a horrific accident with a hand held blender and cut the top of her finger off requiring major surgery and a lot of physio. Olivia couldn’t surf for months.
As a mother highly concerned about her mental health looking at the next few months, we wanted to find a way to keep Olivia connected to her love of surfing and doing something good as she thrives on helping others.
We suggested to Olivia that she uses the time to learn to repair boards. Olivia taught herself how to repair & shape fibreglass surfboards with YouTube and one of our many broken surfboards.
Olivia investigated how toxic surfboards are and was horrified to learn Surfboards never break down in landfill and leach toxic chemicals for eternity, forever harming our ocean & planet!
We also discovered that a surfers’ carbon footprint is double of a non-surfer! This is due to surf equipment & disposal and of course travelling more searching for the perfect wave.
Surfboards are super toxic and so bad! We must do something to help!
Olivia suggested’ if we can save surfboards going to landfill and together we can turn them into Art for peoples homes, I can repair them and you can paint them! “ We can stop heaps of surfboards going to landfill and it’s creating a way to help surfers lower their carbon footprint.
So here we are “Surfboard Souls Manly” Turning trashed surfboards into art for your home!
We are proud to be creating the ONLY alternative disposal for surfers to dispose of their trashed unwanted surfboards rather than go to landfill. Whilst creating the ultimate way to invite Coastal elegance into your home.
